Update on Fall Activities

Fall Activities Update with Attendance Information

August 25, 2020

Yesterday, we shared the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference decision to continue with participation in the fall activities season. With our first competitions beginning this Friday, August 28, PCR-3 is sharing the following event guidelines to our students, staff, parents, and community members.

For GKC Suburban Conference fall activities, events will enforce physical distancing, spectators will be required to wear face coverings, and spectator capacities will be limited as outlined below. Additional logistics will be shared by team coaches and sponsors.

  • Football, Boys Soccer, Softball, Girls Tennis, and Volleyball: Two spectators will be allowed per participant.
  • Girls Golf and Boys/Girls Cross County: Spectator attendance at these events will be dictated by the course facility and/or host school. Due to the number of schools and athletes participating in our home cross country meets, spectators will not be allowed.
  • Boys Swimming and Diving: Spectator attendance will be dictated by the facility hosting swim and dive meets. At this time, our home facility, YMCA’s Platte County Community Center North, is not allowing spectators.

At home events, limited concessions will be available and approved game day staff and media members will be allowed. Spectator capacities and other logistics for away events may vary based on host school requirements, and coaches and sponsors will communicate details with teams and families.

Physical tickets will be issued by coaches to student participants for varsity football, varsity soccer, and varsity volleyball games. All other contests will use a roster for admitting two spectators per student participant. PCHS’s Cheerleading Team and Dance Team will participate in home varsity football games, with two spectators allowed per student participant. Additionally, PCHS’s Traditions Band will participate in home varsity football games, with the following changes:
  • PCHS’s band will not participate in the first home football game on August 28, due to lack of time for preparation.
  • Senior PCHS band members will participate in pregame performances at the September 11 home football game.
  • PCHS band attendance at the remaining home football games (performing at pregame and through halftime) will be divided by student last names (corresponding with the A/B alternating schedule). Band students with last names starting with A-K will perform at the September 18 home football game; Band students with last names starting with L-Z will perform at the following home game on October 2; and the rotation will continue thereafter. Senior band members will perform at all home games regardless of last name.
  • Additional details and instructions will be provided by our band directors.

Dr. Mike Reik, Superintendent, reiterates: “To allow for safe player and spectator participation, I can’t stress enough how important it is to follow our safety guidelines. Doing so will afford us the best opportunity to complete our fall season and allow us to continue with these important parts of our student experience.”

Information regarding other fall extracurricular activities will be shared by group sponsors and coaches soon.

As a reminder, we will be offering live streaming of our fall sports events through NFHS for events at Pirate Stadium and PCHS’s north gym, and we are pursuing other streaming options for events in other locations. To watch PCHS live streams through NFHS:
